I read about this a month or two back. Fascinating discovery. What I find interesting is that:

The British Museum has classed the object as a "pilgrim badge" made in the late Middle Ages.

and presumably worth a hundred thousand. But if it really was a piece from a crown worn by every English/British sovereign from Henry VII to Charles I, it would be worth millions.
