Thanks for that. Worked fine for accessing census records and I got what I was after. Anything else (e.g. B/M/D records) needed a cancellable trial subscription to be taken out.

https://www.freebmd.org.uk/ is always free.
They're not all on their yet, but the transcriptions seem better than Ancestry of FMP.
It is a part of https://www.freeukgenealogy.org.uk/ which gives a lot of access at not cost.
