keeping well

#325913

Postby Dod101 » July 13th, 2020, 11:29 pm

I have been to my GP for the first time in about 5 years today. It was for an ear infection. I was given a prescription for an atomiser spray which of course I took to the local chemist and was handed the item. The whole thing took about 90 minutes. Amazing! And at no cost to me. Is it any wonder that foreigners like us?

I was genuinely non-plussed. Very strange we Brits!

You must be over 60 or you'd have been relieved of nine quid, surely....

It's not widely publicised, but you can "buy" a "season ticket" that caps the annual cost. Being of an age where it's gratis anyway, I don't know how much it is now. I suspect less than the TV Licence.

"Get a prescription prepayment certificate" (in England):

Terrible value for money for the OP. He only goes to the doc once every five years!

Edit to add: Oops, forgot the point I was making. Either way it isn't free as the OP asserted, unless you are in that strange place Snorv mentioned....

Over 60 prescriptions are free in England. Rest of UK they are free for all.

It was posted for general info - like most posts on these boards - not for the OP, Dod101, who's in Scotland.
