Picton Property Income

Money Observer have dropped PCTN from their reference portfolios on the basis that it has converted to a REIT and so is no longer recognised by AIC. AIC list many REITs (admittedly not PCTN). Out of curiosity, can anyone explain what's going on here?

The AIC gets its data from Morningstar and according to David Michael, who works for the AIC and posts on the Investment Trusts and Unit Trusts board under the moniker DavidM13, Morningstar classes REITs as two types, "Equity REITs" and "Fund REITs", and it's only the latter that appear on the AIC site.

At least that's what he said in viewtopic.php?t=19695. If you'd like further explanation I'd suggest you create a new topic on that board with the subject "REITs on the AIC site" or similar and start it with "Dear David" and I'm sure you'll get a reply. ;)
