Royal Dutch Shell B

#283396

Postby fca2019 » February 10th, 2020, 10:45 am

My wife has a small amount of RDSB which pay a sweet yield.

I was thinking of adding this to my portfolio but am confused by the difference between A and B shares and that RDSB is quoted in Euros. I read that A shares are on the Dutch stock exchange and B shares on the LSE.

I don't want any problem with withholding tax. But I've read as they are London listed there should be no problem.

If anyone holds these shares please can you explain, and confirm if B is the right one to buy, and that is no tax issues if UK resident.

Secondly I am starting a high yield portfolio, as a beginner, is this a standard one to own.

Well RDSB (LON) is the one I've held for years - no issues

RDSB for UK holders to avoid Withholding Tax.

See Difference between A and B shares https://www.shell.com/investors/retail-shareholder-information/information-on-shares.html.

Quoted in sterling https://www.londonstockexchange.com/exchange/prices-and-markets/stocks/summary/company-summary/GB00B03MM408GBGBXSET1.html.

Shareholders are reminded that dividends on A and B shares will be paid in euro and pound sterling respectively, unless shareholders elect to receive an alternative currency. from https://www.investegate.co.uk/royal-dutch-shell-plc--rdsa-/gnw/shell-introduces-option-to-receive-dividend-in-us-dollars-and-moves-to-full-electronic-settlement-of-its-dividends/20191218070000H9799/.

If you look at the HYPpy board you'll see RDSB oft discussed.
