It seems that I am not alone in being bemused by this erection.

So, virtually identical to the Exeter scenario then :)

I'm surprised one wooden pole could generate such plentiful responses! C.

Is it just me who doesn't see a vast difference between the new unacceptable pole and the lamp post that's been there for decades, in the same photo?

I can see a difference.

The streetlight is a nuisance to anyone whose bed has it in line-of-sight. The wooden pole isn't.

This thread presents a great opportunity to show a really heart-warming 'telegraph-pole-upgrade' photograph...

Before I moved to where I live now, a woman who used to live in the road ran campaign to stop a 4g mast being erected in the area
She no longer lives here but thanks to her, none of us get a mobile signal at home (and I am in London not out in the sticks!)

Yep, the two most common complaints received by us are (or at least were)
Why is our signal so poor? Do something about!
and
How dare you plan a new 'mast' in our area!

It's particularly bad in richer/more rural areas

and they won't do anything about it now as I was told no more 4g masts all 5g now
which will be cr*p in summer as the signal isn't strong enough to pass through tree leaves

A site isn't 4G or 5G
The various technologies normally coexist on a site, so you'd get a 5G upgrade on an existing 2G/3G/4G or 3G/4G site

I find 3g seems to be on the endangered list. It's always 4G (fast) or 2G (slow). Or nothing at all!

I lived for a time on 4G as my regular 'net connection from home. In a location with a good signal it worked nicely, with speeds as good as any I've experienced.

Team, who knew that so much discussion could be generated about a stick of wood stuck into our planet. (Probably says more about the readership than anything else.)

The original DAK was:
DAK what purpose this pole will serve please?

If there is anything further to add that hasn't already been said then please go ahead, otherwise...

Thanks, Chris
