Hi,
Why are king size duvet covers usually 220cm x 230 cms yet the actual duvet is usually 200cm x 225cm?
Super king covers tend to be 220cm x 260cm and duvets tend to be the same size
So why the big difference between the duvet / cover for king size but not super king?
Thanks
Andy

Are they? I just went on to the Dunelm web site, and the first two king size duvets I looked at, from different manufacturers, were 220cm x 225cm.
Scott.

Re: Why are King Size duvet covers too big
The duvet cover is measured laid flat. Maybe the bulk of the duvet makes the duvet cover go round a curve. A curve from A to B must be longer than a straight line between the same 2 points.
Just a guess.

Re: Why are King Size duvet covers too big
Any of these products from Ikea?
They did use non standard sizes generally being longer from head to foot on beds, mattresses, duvets and covers. IIRC correctly width was standard.
There's a bit more on Mumsnet:

Incidentally, recent news says Mumsnet got hacked. The linked thread appears without any requirement to join up. I tried it on a spare browser just in case I was auto logging in. It appeared on Edge (which I don't use much) and didn't ask for much more than cookie acceptance.
PS. Mumsnet can be pretty outspoken, some of the user names are sweary, as on occasion are the 'Mums' It's a great site, but be careful.

The linked page doesn't seem to exist. But surely it's always been possible to browse mumsnet threads without joining up? I've certainly done so over many years.
