Renewing EHIC card

#278015

Postby feder1 » January 17th, 2020, 8:58 am

When I tried to renew it I have had to create a new a/c because I needed to register with a new password.

I have no record of a password from all those years ago from the original application.

No where can I see the word "Renewal" on the online application.

Is there any problem with applying for a new card please?

the only problem to watch for is to make certain that you are using a official government web site. there are many operating that do it for you and you dont realise you being ripped off until veryy end of application...where they ask for payment
by which time they have ALL your info
also its a government site so you its possible the jobsworths will make it complicated iepasswords etc etc though i dont recall passwords when i did mine a couple years ago

This page https://www.ehic.org.uk/Internet/login.do includes a Password reset section.

If not urgent, you could always apply by post https://www.gov.uk/european-health-insurance-card#other-ways-to-apply

Are you aware of the possibly yet to be resolved (I don't know) Travelling to Europe after Brexit https://www.gov.uk/european-health-insurance-card?

Applied for replacement cards for self and spouse this morning. Used ehic.org site after seeing another one that wanted to charge me £35. No hassle, just created my account with email, password then filled in all my details, name, address, dob, ni number. Applied for another card for spouse at same time. Job done.

This morning I hadn,t actually pressed the button to apply for a new one.

A friend suggested trying to login afresh and say I had forgotten the password.

This worked a treat and the application form had an extra line asking for the Ehic Pin. This was found on the card and so I am expecting my renewed card in 10 days time!

The online application form from the NHS was very poor in my opinion.

I am pleased that I may have jogged others to renew.

FWIW, this prompted me to look at me and it's due for renewal shortly, so thanks for the nudge.

I checked my existing card and it says "To renew or apply for a new free EHIC or to find out more information, visit http://www.nhs.uk/ehic

This says: You can renew your EHIC card online.. Enter all of your details.
