Our son is at college in the US. He has set up a bank account and we would like to send a regular monthly allowance to him.
Apparently we need something called a "routing number".
DAK what this is?

Also known as an ABA number, it's their equivalent of a sort code. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/ABA_routing_transit_number
If he has a cheque (check
) book it's the first (leftmost) number at the bottom of each cheque. Or he can just ask his bank for it.
