I haven't been to this part of town for years and I understand there's loads of work going on.

Does anyone know which exit I should use to get to Copthall Avenue?

LONG time since I've been there, but any exit to the dual carriageway (which is Moorgate?) should do, then head south to London Wall
handy hint, if going somewhere with an exit both sides of the road, have a look at street view so you know what 'south' looks like. Based on experience....

I can go one better

I told my mum off for constantly referring to Strand station when I worked round there, I thought she meant Charing Cross.

Turned out I missed that bit of london history

I don't have fancy tech but I'll figure something out.

Strand station -- actually officially Aldwych station since 1915 (although the main entrance still says Strand) -- was closed in 1994 and only had two entrances/exits.

I suspect you meant Charing Cross tube station, which I think has 8 or 9 exits....

Thank you so much, that's really helpful. If I get there too early, the receptionist will be at lunch and I'll be standing around in the cold, so it's really helpful to at least plan in the walk so I don't get lost. You're a gem.

Re Strand station - the fact it closed in 1994 is even more of a reason I should know! But if you were going to clubs underage, there was only one that I knew of at Leics Sq.

There's about one coffee shop every 50ft around there so don't get cold (there's a Costa down Copthall Ave)

I'm reasonably certain this (the sitting down whilst collecting a takeaway, let alone the consumption) isn't permitted under the current lockdown applicable to England.

There's a complicated history.

Once upon a time, there were stations on the Bakerloo Line called Trafalgar Square and Charing Cross and on the Northern Line Strand and Charing Cross. Charing Cross being the interchange, also with the Circle/District.

At some time, probably in the 1970s, the Trafalgar Square and Strand stations were amalgamated under the name "Charing Cross", whilst the original Charing Cross was renamed "Embankment".

Alaric - yes, I was mortified when I found I'd been no scolding my parents with all that quite confusing history!

It's important to tell parents off but you do need to be in the right when you do it!

There used to be a pub on that corner called The Scottish Pound - long gone now and deservedly so, it was awful. At the far end of Copthall Ave there's The Telegraph which I visit sometimes to catch up with ex colleagues.
