Time Signature Question

#412325

Postby Gostevie » May 15th, 2021, 11:08 pm

Dear Fools,

I am normally pretty good with music but I can't for the life of me work out what the time signature is on this Nick Drake track.

Any ideas?

Many thanks,

Gostevie

I'd never heard the track but worked it out straightaway. By cheating. These people reckon it's in 3/4, with 2/4 and 5/4 bars thrown in to confuse.

Actually the 5/4 is only shown in the bass line in one bar so they don't really mean it. It's mostly 3/3 then?

A straight 3/4 surely? Ok, there's a lot of notes in some parts, so maybe 9/8 in places, but after all 9/8 is really just 3/4 with everything played in triplets... ;)

Edit: P.S. I didn't cheat but I only listened to 30 seconds or so. :D
