I asked about signatures and stooz said it wasn't a TMF feature so it was switch off.

Request a feature if you want an avatar!

Avatars should only be allowed if they are very VERY small. On many other forum websites, you get an avatar about 2 inches high and short messages then take up far too much screen space.

Agreed. Several people have commented on the "clean" look of the Motley Fool forums. I hope this is replicated here. Too many images, videos, avatars, signatures etc etc will spoil the look and feel of the Lemon.

May the Lord save us from Avatars and signatures. One of the great things about the Fool was that it was all meat and no potatoes.

Another vote against avatars, well at least animated ones.

A simple picture is not a problem, but anything that moves is just annoying.

Forums can (and do) set size limits for Avatars, so that's one problem that can be avoided. As for animation, well this is my subtle approach on another forum...

...and the one I would use here if allowed. It (in in-animated form) is also my Gravatar on TMF.

It doesn't seem animated to me.

But if you allow subtle animations then some people won't be able to resist flickering ones, or ones that are annoying in other ways.

TMF supported avatars (and Gravatars) but only displayed on the profile page.

I agree about flashy Gifs, can't stand them. I however want to use a tasteful charcoal by a favourite artist of mine (RIP).

Also this forum has emoticons , which should keep all the grumpies infinitely happy... :D

Some browsers may disable animated gifs by default, try IE - then wait 33 seconds (don't blink or you'll miss it). :D

For those who are not keen on seeing Avatars, or signatures, you can set them so you don't see them

Select the dropdown next to your name at the top right of any screen, then select User Control Panel
Then Board Preferences, Edit Display Options.

Untick those things you don't want.

Cheers
