BBC at Wimbledon
I realise that this mystery is as old as the hills, but DAK why the BBC keeps switching channels during the tennis at Wimbledon? Is it some kind of perverse exercise for us couch potatoes or is it simply perverse?

Re: BBC at Wimbledon
Same reason that the on-TV programme guide never keeps pace with the rate of match postponements, analyses and overruns. When’s SWMBO’s Emmerdale coming on eh?

I noticed that lst night. What was the rationale for switching East Enders to BBC2, and switching Wimbledon to BBC 1, when the match was already on BBC2.
That seems bizarre. I think they thought the nation takes BBC1 as the "popular" channel and that the particular match being shown (our plucky, but in pain, British player Emma Raducanu) ought to be given exposure on the premier channel. I take it as an acknowledgement the importance of her emergence as a new force in British tennis. I'm sure that was the justification.
I'm more concerned about why the TV channel can't cooperate about when they show programs to cut down ridiculous clashes of items which likeminded people might watch. It would be for the good of all: no one cares about their stupid internicene struggles. Frequently there's nothing worth watching and then at 9pm four things clash! Even worse is the habit of programs going over the hour in deliberate attempt to steal audiences.

Re: BBC at Wimbledon
The bizarre thing last night was that the tennis started as scheduled on bbc2. Then suddenly they decided to switch it to bbc1 and move bbc1 programs to bbc2 even though it had been scheduled the other way round.
I have visions of the two channel controllers being in a continuous battle for Wimbledon and one wins for a while before the other takes over. Probably a fight with swords...

Re: BBC at Wimbledon
Why don't they just put it on BBC4, so that those who aren't interested in tennis can have their normal shows on BBC 1 and BBC2
Yes, they would have to switch it before 7pm, but how hard can that be?
