Sunflowers

Postby eepee » July 16th, 2021, 10:10 am

We have some sunflowers in the garden - something we haven't had since the kids were young, over twenty years ago.

Fascinating to watch them turn which makes me think - do they keep rotating in one direction all their lives or do they quietly, when no one is looking at night, rewind??

They reset at night, and there's been studies that have concluded that they use some sort of internal-timing mechanism to some degree as well...

There's an interesting article here about them with a good video showing their natural day-time and night-time habits -
