Best Reactolite glasses
More properly described as photochromic, but Reactolite seem to be the Hoover... so, walking up the High Street early yesterday morning, the low sun, oh dear.
Also a nuisance when driving, low sun wet road.
The last sunglasses I bought, Polaroid, allegedly, made everything darker but did nothing for the glare.
I've never had photochromic glasses. My wife had some prescription glasses with Reactolite lenses but found they never really lightened indoors.
Don't need specs indoors, so that wouldn't be an issue.
Would they help with the glare, and is there any difference between brands?
I gather they don't work so well in low temperatures.

Re: Best Reactolite glasses
I have a pair of Reactolite specs , which are magnificent against glare. Don't know the brand though. They don't work in the car, you have to be outside, so wouldn't be useful against glare when driving.

I have prescription polaroid's and don't have issues with glare.
I wear them for driving when the suns out for that reason.

Re: Best Reactolite glasses
Has to be the "Joo Janta 200 Super-Chromatic Peril Sensitive Sunglasses"
- ah no.. you want light not danger
for glare reduction I find the glasses just need to be polarized
- but polarized in the correct axis; lying down on your side in a small boat in the sun can be an eyeopener (until they slam shut in the glare!)

Re: Best Reactolite glasses
just been for an eye test (fell the other week and broke a pair - pride was my only injury)
and it was explained to me that anti glare and reactolite are two different things

Re: Best Reactolite glasses
Unless they have improved dramatically in the last 20 years I wouldn't bother.
Although reasonably quick to turn from light to dark, I found they were too slow to turn from dark to light, and as you noted, they never seem to get properly light.
My solution - contact lenses and normal sunglasses.

Presumably because Polaroid is the brand, and they may now make a range of glasses, some polarised, some not?
Whereas they "made their name" as a maker of polarised specs?

I think they made their name as the originators of an advert involving a swimming pool and a young lady....

Re: Best Reactolite glasses
Oakley make glasses that go darker in sunlight - Visions I think they're called.
You can also buy similar lenses off ebay to fit Oakleys - but they don't change as fast or go as dark.
I remember the old Reactolite from 35 years ago - they were a bit slow.
