New Sofa that "parps"

#497491

Postby feder1 » April 29th, 2022, 3:29 pm

We have just bought a new chesterfield and a new sofa from DFS and they are very comfortable.

However the chesterfield makes a gentle whoopee cushion sound any time we make a movement on it.

DAK why the foam "rubbers" of the two new items should be any different please?

Has anyone else had this "problem"?

I'm laughing too, because I can afford to.** :) But in your position I'd be straight onto DFS to get it sorted out. They'll bend over backwards to make it right for you, and they may even offer you a cash rebate.

You see, they've spent upwards of fifty quid to deliver the sofa to your home. If you send it back to them, that's another fifty, after which they're going to have an unsaleable used sofa that might be in an unpopular colour. (I have no idea which shade of luminous yellow you chose...?)

Long, long ago, we ordered a couple of sofas from Marks & Spencer, only to find that they were far too soft. M&S were incredibly accommodating, and they not only sent somebody out to fix the problem - they bunged us a 20% thank you for not sending the sofas back. Funny business, large custom built furniture. :|

PS: ** I once had a brand new 200 series Rover, which was subject to a company recall because its petrol tank farted loudly at 30 minute intervals whenever the car was parked overnight after a hot day. Something to do with the ventilation valves to the top of the tank. By the time we got the recall notice from Rover, we'd already endured two weeks of ridicule in a French camp site; and I'd resorted to loosening the petrol cap every night in my efforts to keep the peace. Ah well, it gave them all something to remember us by. ;)
