Entitlement to dividend on transferred shares

#498202

Postby Bouleversee » May 3rd, 2022, 2:58 pm

If one gifts shares or transfers them to an ISA and they have not gone ex-dividend, is it the date on the transfer form or the date it gets entered on the share register which is relevant as regards the ultimate entitlement to the dividend, if the shares go ex-dividend between the two dates in which case the registrar will pay the dividend to the donor. Is it just a caae of forwarding it on to the new owner or does it remain the property of the donor?
