i have always used these for my documents , and can still do so with those existing.
but i cant now create a new one .
when i right clik on the desktop , and clik NEW , there is no longer an option for rich text .
DAK how do do thst please ?

- I assume you are using Wordpad...
- I'm on Windows 10
left click on the windows START icon (bottom LHS of screen)
scroll down until you find Wordpad( you will need to click on "Windows Accessories" - this is a folder and it will be near the end of the scrollable list)
look for Wordpad and click on it.
type your document and then "save as" and select RTF in "save as type"

You could just install LibreOffice (free), and use Writer. This reads and saves multiple formats, inc RTF.

It remains possible to create a document or file by starting a program that supports the required format and use the "File New" and "File Save as" menu items to create a new empty file.
