While I am and remain an advocate for Wise, I have never had cause to call on their customer services so can't comment on that side of things.

When I purchased my house in Spain (without a mortgage) so there was a large transfer of money from the UK to ES, I did various transfers of varying sizes including with Currencies Direct.

With them, there was cause for me to speak with them (nothing to do with their service it was to do do with the size of the transfer exceeding the amount that could be done online) and all that was dealt with very swiftly and it was easy to get hold of someone.

I don't think the rates were quite as good as Wise (or Transferwise as it was then) but I guess if you're paying a bit extra then providing a better customer service experience could be a good selling point.
