Why Is TLF Always Like This?

OK. As I see a report of mine of an "Off topic post" in a thread of mine has been "closed" (with no effective action taken. Surprise!): in the case of a distinctly, but pretty typical, 'off' topic post.

I will take it upon myself to repost the post, my request for deletion and my PM to the poster concerned. Doubtless that will incur, in the usual TLF manner, action at the speed of light - but not the appropriate action.

The post:

There is a small, natural variation each time from test to test.

No great surprise there. But look at this:

Last night: 164/90

This morning: 124/75

In all seriousness, do you think spending all day on here arguing with people helps?

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

My Request for Deletion:

Reason - Off Topic Post
My text - "Usual, familiar shit from Itsallaguess" (From memory)

My pm to Itsallaguess:

"Whereas some people's hobby is poking their nose in where it isn't wanted for the sole purpose of making snide, personal remarks. Isn't it?

XFool"

Oh. Do I need to mention who the 'moderator' is? ;)

Start the clock...

I closed your report without action because the post in question didn't, in my opinion, breach any of our rules.

I think Itsallaguess's post was quite light-hearted and not worthy of deletion.

I'll leave it now for our leaders to deliberate upon this and I'll accept their verdict.

All the best,
Chris
PS IMO opinionated people who are very quick to tell others exactly what they think of them have absolutely no place being thin skinned.

Moderator Message:
Thanks for raising this XFool. I can understand why the post bugged you and that there may be some 'previous'. However, I don't think this particular post broke any site rules. Is it a personal attack? Not in itself, it isn't. So I agree with the mod's action in this case, but that doesn't invalidate your feelings.

My recommendation to any user when they receive comments like this is to ignore them. Responding to them simply gives more oxygen and the fire continues to burn. Better to let it burn out.

A reminder to others that Room 101 is an opportunity to raise things directly with site Admin, not an opportunity for everyone to welly in with their views. Some of the replies were more 'personal attack' than the original post. That said, others were posted to make a constructive contribution to the discussion.... but this isn't the forum for either. Thanks.
