PR24 BUSINESS PLAN SUBMISSION & TRADING UPDATE.

· £13.7 billion total expenditure across 2025-30, driving significant RCV growth at 8.7% per annum, which equates to over 50% nominal across the period

· Boosting the North West economy - our plan will support 30,000 jobs, 7,000 of which are new

· Supporting more customers with affordability schemes worth £525 million, helping more than 1 in 6 customers

· Strong balance sheet - 58% gearing today provides flexibility to finance the full plan with average gearing of 65% over the AMP, based on Ofwat's WACC assumptions, and without assuming new equity

· Plan delivering on what matters to customers, communities and the environment, with the UK's biggest CSO spill reduction plan, safeguarding supplies for over 3 million households and halving the chances of a hosepipe ban in the future

Louise Beardmore, CEO said: "We've been listening to customers and communities right across our region to understand what really matters. What's clear is that we need to improve services for customers and the environment. That's why we are proposing the largest investment in water and wastewater infrastructure in over 100 years, with £13.7 billion planned between 2025 and 2030 to build a stronger, greener and healthier North West for everyone.

It's a hugely ambitious plan, and we've engaged with 95,000 people across our five great counties of Cumbria, Lancashire, Merseyside, Greater Manchester and Cheshire, to make sure we get it right, shaping our plans for each county to address the things that they've told us matter most.

Our plan will secure water supplies for the future, halving the need for hosepipe bans, reduce storm overflow spills into our rivers and seas and upgrade our water network to cut leakage and service interruptions for customers.

Good Morning Ian,

As you may be aware I follow Feargal Sharkey on Twitter. I still enjoy listening to his songs from the 80's. He's an exceptionally driven person regarding the state of our rivers and seas. I found this on my Twitter feed 2 minutes before I read this post. I thought it would be of interest to you and the wider Fool community.

Ofwat's letter confirming we have already paid water companies all of the money needed to build and operate a properly functioning sewage system.

WCs 'certify' annual they've had our money.

Trading Update

United Utilities has continued to deliver strong operating performance since our interim results, resulting in no material changes to 2023/24 financial guidance.

Supporting customers: We have helped around 370,000 customers with affordability support so far this AMP, and our proposals for AMP8 include our biggest ever support package which will see us provide 1 in 6 customers with over £500 million support.

Improving service: We were pleased to be ranked as the number 1 Water and Sewerage Company (WaSC), and the 5th utility company overall out of 31 utility companies in the latest independent Institute of Customer Service Index survey. This independent survey benchmarks over 280 organisations across many brands and sectors.

Recognised for our strong sustainability focus: We were pleased to have improved our Sustainalytics ESG Risk Rating for 2023, placing us 12th out of c.700 global Utilities, and to have been included in S&P Global's 2024 Sustainability Yearbook, with a Top 10% Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA) score within the 74 companies in the multi and water utilities industry. We maintained our CDP Climate A- score and achieved a B for our first Water Security Questionnaire, showing our dedication to transparency, accountability, and leadership in environmental management. We have been recognised as part of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD) early adopters following recommendations published in September last year.

ODI performance: Annual rainfall in 2023 was exceptionally high across the North West1, with parts of our region experiencing rainfall up to 50% higher than 2022 and up to 33% higher than the long run average.
