My thoughts are that 4.3% of my portfolio is vested in TATE. Management appear to be doing what they are paid for by attempting to adjust their offering to match demand. I personally am pleased with this not only as a shareholder but also as a "pescatarian" because it bodes well for my choice in the supermarkets. C.TheMotorcycleBoy wrote:Thoughts?

I'm very much of the same mind as Chris. I bought more TATE on 28 May 2020, and similar to Chris too, TATE form 4.2%, in capital value terms, of my 25 share HYP. IMHO, TATE are a true 'buy and forget' type of share. My average purchase price since first buy on 21 Sep 2018, is 665p per share.

These (very decent) results went down like a cup of cold sick.

I don’t get it either. Another one I topped up last year. Happy to hold but not looking a buying currently.

Looks interesting.
Selling off the primary business to potentially focus on a niche that has the chance of higher ROCE. The share hasn't really gone anywhere in recent times, despite the progressive dividends. This might prove to be the catalyst for a re-rating and a P/E reflecting that of a more focussed peer group.
One for further investigation.

At present, that re-rating (of share price) is downwards

Which potentially makes it all the more attractive to invest in.

Re: Tate & Lyle (TATE)
Result of General Meeting
https://www.investegate.co.uk/tate---38 ... 00085642N/
On 12 July 2021, Tate & Lyle announced that it had entered into an agreement to sell a controlling stake in a new company and its subsidiaries which will hold Tate & Lyle's Primary Products business in North America and Latin America and its interests in the Almidones Mexicanos S.A de C.V and DuPont Tate & Lyle Bio-Products Company, LLC joint ventures, to Gemini Holdings, LP, an affiliate of funds managed by KPS Capital Partners, LP (such sale together with the entry into of certain related transaction agreements being the "Transaction").
The Transaction constitutes a Class 1 transaction for Tate & Lyle under the Listing Rules and is conditional upon, amongst other things, the approval of Tate & Lyle's ordinary shareholders at a general meeting.
Tate & Lyle is pleased to announce that the resolution proposed at the general meeting held earlier today (the "General Meeting") seeking approval by Tate & Lyle's ordinary shareholders of the Transaction, was duly passed. A separate resolution, seeking the approval by Tate & Lyle's ordinary shareholders of an amendment to the Company's remuneration policy, was also duly passed. Details of the resolutions were set out in a circular distributed to Tate & Lyle's ordinary shareholders and made available on the Company's website on 13 September 2021 (the "Circular"). Each resolution was passed as an ordinary resolution.

Re: Tate & Lyle (TATE)
Thanks, Ian. Worth reading the whole report, however, S.p. up around 7% earlier today but starting to drop back and still lower than 8 years ago. I bought so long ago I can't remember when without checking and after initial good performance, the last number of years have been disappointing. However, I get some good dividends, unfortunately outside my ISA. Perhaps, if they are on the up it might be worth the cost of transferring them. The Board are very optimistic for the future; do holders share their enthusiasm? I'd like to think it's upwards and onwards from now on. Perhaps it's as well they are out of sugar now as who knows what climate changes will do to any crop growing, particularly in some parts of the world, e.g. Madagascar where people are dying of starvation on account of drought at present. Are T&L subject to any serious risk in that context? I've no idea what ingredients they use for their current products.

I first bought in 1999 for my original ISA at 392p. It has been topped up 10 times and top-sliced 4 times. IRR is 12% but only about 2% had I just bought in one chunk and held on. With a current yield of 4.5% I'm not complaining.

The adverse health effects of sugar and high GI carbs are becoming widely recognised, though the NHS etc have been slow to cotton on. Think tankers changing direction.
If TATE have better alternatives, I reckon they have a strong future.

Yes, I am now convinced that that is the right thing to do. All I have done is gift parcels of mine to family which is not the same as taking profits, which I have rarely got around to doing. I tend to buy shares that are doing well but on the occasions when I have bought when a share price has dropped, it has dropped even further and in some cases has gone bust and some of my brightest stars have gone rather dim recently. All far too time consuming and risky. Have you had any disasters, Terry?

Yes, starting with Marconi. Later came Mapeley, Cattles and Carillion. Lesser travails with British Airways, Dixons, Premier Foods and one or two others.
My shining star is IMI.

Re: Tate & Lyle (TATE)
I had a couple of those, too (Marconi and Carillion).
FWIW I see that Tempus in The Times is recommending TATE as a buy today. Market not impressed, however.
I see their CFO is leaving on Dec. 31 for personal reasons.

Re: Tate & Lyle (TATE)
The above seems to have gone down well, with the TATE sp up nearly 8% as I type.
I hold TATE in my HYP, but am not looking at topping up my holdings of the share any time soon.
Ian.
