Crazy day for RR, surge from 70 to 137 then back to 102.. that's some volatility there.

Recent BBC article about Rolls-Royce’ proposed small modular reactor, for boosting carbon free electricity.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-54703204
You can read this both ways - a great opportunity for RR, to ‘it’ll never happen’!

So the cash for the new shares has been taken but the new shares have not been issued. Should I assume that the new shares will trade at the old shares market price or? Struggling to value my portfolio today because of this.

So I had 3 old shares, and I will now have 13 new ones, each worth 88p, having paid 32p for 10 of them?

Those two earlier links don't seem to work for me now, probably as the Rights Issue closed for acceptances at 11:00 a.m. on 11 November 2020 from https://www.londonstockexchange.com/news-article/RR./result-of-rights-issue/14752926, and I think I may have misled you. I think the relevant page is now:
RR.ORD SHS 20P https://www.londonstockexchange.com/stock/RR./rolls-royce-holdings-plc/company-page
Marked as XR for ex rights.
Presently showing as Bid / Offer 98.24 / 98.46 with the standard 15 minute delay.

Yes, the successful vaccine announcement came at the perfect time, with the prospect of a return to flying next year.
Price is a bit wildly volatile at the moment, but you are looking at a near 3x profit in just a few days.
(Now wishing I had bought all my rights rather than tail swallowing!!)

Roughly at 90p as the rump has been dealt with:
Released 12:25:06 12 November 2020 https://www.londonstockexchange.com/new ... g/14753982
Following the announcement earlier today regarding valid acceptances under the fully underwritten 10 for 3 Rights Issue announced by Rolls-Royce Holdings plc ("Rolls-Royce" or the "Company") on 1 October 2020, the Company confirms that ... have successfully procured subscribers for all of the 375,096,792 New Ordinary Shares for which valid acceptances were not received, representing approximately 5.8 per cent. of the total number of New Ordinary Shares to be issued pursuant to the fully underwritten Rights Issue, at a price of 90 pence per New Ordinary Share.
The net proceeds from the placing of such New Ordinary Shares (after the deduction of the Rights Issue Price of 32 pence per New Ordinary Share and the expenses of procuring subscribers, including any applicable brokerage commissions and VAT which are not recoverable) will be paid (without interest) to those Shareholders whose rights have lapsed in accordance with the terms of the Rights Issue, pro rata to their lapsed provisional allotments, save that individual amounts of less than £5.00 will not be paid to such persons but will be aggregated and will accrue for the benefit of the Company.

Yes but the price of the three shares you held pre the rights issue have fallen dramatically following the very heavily discounted rights issue. Your profit I fancy is nothing like the three times that FD mentions.

Of course you are right. My original RR shares were bought at an average of £6.44, so 90p represents a huge loss on these.

- Rolls is now cut back drastically to a more appropriate % of the portfolio for such a high-risk stock.
- Overall portfolio is Still -14% YTD.
- 2021 should either see RR recover or i'll probably sell out completely.
- Full disclosure of this mind-blowing years' events in 6 weeks time with an AR........GLA.

Point taken. Like anyone in RR. LTBH, my historic position shows a loss. However, that loss has been reduced by taking up the rights. Looked at from the decision point when the rights choice became available, I had 3 shares worth 88p - £2.64. I subscribed another £3.20 for 10 more at 32p and I now have 13 @ 90p, worth £11.70 for a total investment of £5.84. I also have the same (or microscopically larger) proportion of the total outstanding equity as I did before. Happy with that, and a good learning episode.

I haven't read the article dated 3 December 2020 but, if of interest, the latest Trading Update dated 11 December 2020 mentions Hucknall:
... We are in consultation regarding the next phase of our Civil Aerospace footprint review, which includes a proposal to transfer our facility and workforce in Hucknall, UK, which manufactures a range of aero-engine parts, into ITP Aero. ...

AiY
My advice to anyone working there is to get out before everyone else does.
If it were me I think I would stay and get a redundancy cheque than leave early without one.

Rolls-Royce now starting a new business - small modular nuclear reactors, building on their submarine technology.
https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-59212983
Seems to me like a smart move to get a share of the low/no carbon energy market.
Will be interested to see how it pans out.
Share price up, so the market likes it (a bit!).

RR price up 19% today.
I have no idea why - I cannot see a news report or press release to explain it.
Any ideas?
