London Summer Social - 8 June
Copying my old posts, if this looks familiar;
There will be an informal gathering of Lemon Fools (and friends) near Regent St/Oxford Circus on the 8th June. All welcome ! It’s a social evening rather than being ‘investment focused’, although we do occasionally discuss investing….
*******
When: Friday 8th June 2018. 'After work' to closing time (11.30pm)
Where: The Clachan, 34 Kingly Street, London W1B 5QH
https://www.nicholsonspubs.co.uk/restau ... reetlondon
*******
Directions:
Oxford Circus tube is the closest. On exiting the tube, head SOUTH down Regent St towards Piccadilly Circus. Take the second left after about 600ft (a short amble) into Gt Marlborough St. Almost immediately on your right, before the mock Tudor façade of Liberty London, is an archway which is Kingly Street (more alley than street). The Clachan is on the left a short distance down .
If you get lost ask for directions to Liberty. "Give me Liberty, or give me death!"
How to find the Fools.
Some of us will be wearing badges with our usernames on, superimposed on a picture of a lemon...
Failing that, try posting on this thread and we will aim to guide you in our direction (Smartphones, eh?!)
We are usually outside if the weather is clement
Food:
If you need food get something on the way, or order in the Clachan (if you don't mind paying £6 for four chips). They have a pretty reasonable menu and food in Nicholson’s pubs is normally good. You might have trouble finding a table though.
EMERGENCY PLAN B----
If the Clachan is closed due to unforeseen circumstances (fire, flood, locusts, Brexit) I suggest a retreat to The Blue Posts (18 Kingly St) which is a short way beyond the Clachan on the left. No idea what it’s like, but it’s a pub. I will try to post ON THIS BOARD if we have to change venue [unlikely]
The Blue Posts is open until 0030 , so if you get thrown out of the Clachan and fancy a drink ...although it's a Greene King pub, so may not be any real beer
See you there I hope!

I am planning to be there, I guess it'll be 3 or 4 of us again?
Who is coming - say 'aye'?

I make it at least 5, counting the 2 other confirmations on the other Fool Social thread.
Then there are some who turn up without confirming beforehand.

Making no promises, but I need to come up to town for some shopping so might make it that day. Would make a change from talking to myself.

Re: London Summer Social - 8 June
Waaah! I can't come
I left work late (I usually run out the door at 5.30pm, but I had a phone interview with a potential summer placement chap which started at 5pm, so I knew it would run over), so I missed my normal train, the 'next' train has not run for about 3 weeks now (used to be 18.07, 18.12, 18.35 - it is now 18.06, 18.16 but from St Pancras, 18.36 - the 18.16 has never, as far as I can tell, actually run) and so I got the next one which was (overcrowded) twenty minutes late (hello £2.25 delay repay).
I then managed to clip a kerb driving home and by the time I got home - flat tyre (and quite possibly damaged wheel!). So annoying - the reason for the first para is that, had I not been home late I might have been able to swing by a tyre place on my way home, but I couldn't. And I can't get anyone out til the afternoon tomorrow - so I won't be in London.
I shall miss you all!

Doesn't the rail line run near your house? Perhaps you could flag down a train

Re: London Summer Social - 8 June
Heh - one does run about half a mile behind it.
It's not the line I use though, so would have to buy a ticket.
I mean, I could have got in - taxi is c£25 each way, guess at least it means I can have a drink, a chap in fb offered me a lift but not til 7.45am and couldn't pick me up so still £25 taxi, or I could have got a taxi into Bedford (c£12 I think) and got the train but have to buy a ticket........but in the end decided to stay home and work from home so the tyre guy can come out. Am just hoping the wheel isn't damaged.
Have fun!

Water is fine, as long as it has >4% alcohol, and hops, to prevent bacterial contamination

I'm afraid I'm not going to be able to make it either. Hope you'll have another one soon, with a bit more notice.
