I've been getting security warnings about the site since prior to the upgrade, perhaps a week or more.

Have to say this doesn't fill me full of confidence.

I've been making the most of this site outage.

Perhaps it should shut down for a few days every month so we can all slow down!

A sort of "No-look" Lemon Fool, perhaps.

No connection last night, but several ups and downs today (12th) on Windows 10 with a BT broadband connection - the downs sometimes with a security certificate warning, followed by a 404. I'm working at the moment on the Windows 10 connection, but I still get a solid 404 on my Android phone - even after a power off/on, and using the same BT broadband connection

I have been getting 404 messages on my mobile with chrome. That also came with health warnings about certificates. However using Firefox it has suddenly worked on my mobile. I haven't tried on my PC today.

Later perhaps.

Very much hit and miss today. That's with Firefox on a PC without doing anything special.

404 error when it fails to connect.

My experience.

No access until yesterday, early evening. Prior to this I'd been getting the bare login screen with the update message.

This access only lasted a short time, after this I continually received the Not Found message. This is on Chrome on an android phone and an android tablet.

It was the same using a mobile connection and my broadband (Virgin mobile and Sky respectively)

Even now this situation persists if I use my traditional bookmark, which appears to simply be http://www.lemonfool.co.uk/

A while ago I googled lemonfool and clicked on a link to an old post and this got me in. I set up a new bookmark to the page I landed on when I selected New Posts and this seems to work.

Also, simply typing lemonfool.co.uk into the tltle bar now seems to work fine, so why my original bookmark doesn't work is a puzzle.

Still, all (hopefully!) now good.

Staffordian

Just had a thought. Editing my original bookmark from http to https gets me in. This must be the issue I've had, something to do with the new server not liking an http address?

Got lost again with Certificate Error and 404 on Windows 10 - but now back
It now seems to be partially working on Android - but got a certificate warning when I tried to login. But I could continue with adverts (and no login) - then when I closed the connection I couldn't get back in. I tried https - but it made no difference.
It looks like there is a DNS server somewhere has not been updated correctly, and there is a bit of luck whether or not you get a DNS server which has been updated.
(Edit Android/Chrome now seems to be working)

It's still quite flaky.

I can get in using Firefox but equally when on other occasions (including when trying to post a reply) Firefox stops me out with a warning that the site does not have a security certificate. Later, I've been allowed through by Firefox security and completed the posting.

It's been rock solid for me in Firefox on all my machines since I took the steps I listed earlier in this thread.

Sorry for all the issues everyone.

Hopefully the fact you are posting means you are getting through.

Lots of discussion here on what are hopefully short term issues whilst the new DNS mappings get sorted out stooz, but I just want to also say that after having a good look around using the new server, the site really does seem to be a great deal snappier than it was in it's previous home, so I do hope that any short term issues will be seen as a small price to pay for what seems to be a big improvement to the speed of the site in general.

Cheers,

Itsallaguess

Yes I thought so too. I have better controls now for blocking spammers at a hardware level rather than the software having to deal with them, so that should help too. And no more SQL errors!

I agree. When it fails, it does so noticeably quicker than before ;)

Many thanks to the individuals who spend their time running the site. If it was down to me with my ability it wouldn't work ANY of the time

The trouble with this sort of outage is that it has interrupted so many threads. A great shame but I suppose it will sort itself out in time.

You may be interested to know that I have just restored a system image to one of my PCs that was made on Tuesday before any of the site work and server migration problems started. As such, the PC was in effect one that had been turned off before the work started and only just been turned back on.

I was a little concerned when I first clicked the bookmark for Lemonfool, fearing the worst. I needn't have worried. It sailed straight in without having to sign in, my login cookie from the old site being accepted. I think that is strong evidence that the site is now back to normal.

If anyone is still getting cert/404 issues on Android devices try settings/storage/apps and then on each browser app clear cache.
Restart (cold boot) your device.
