Stoke-on-Trent man becomes overnight millionaire - thanks to £1 Premium Bond he only bought this year
Stoke-on-Trent News
Bizarre headline. All Premium Bonds are worth £1. He bought £27,500 of them at the same time.
Scott.
Yeah. But surely only one of his bonds - worth £1 - won?

Re: Premium Bonds
It's amusing how easily people defend the secrecy of the winners in a lottery system when someone expresses doubts about weekly jackpot wins which are never announced. This in a country where people otherwise are very reluctant to engage in or are well informed on being extremely careful over any financial schemes or games, boiler room scams, pyramid schemes, here today gone tomorrow companies etc. Anyway, I still have my doubts about dozens of mysterious millionaire jackpot winners happening every week all over the country from so many different lotteries, the winners of which are never actually announced, but once in a while a random marketing article disguised as news gets out about how lucky someone got.
I recently bought some tickets in Omaze and I have more belief in it, because they print the names, photos and a comment of every winner so far, and I think that is the only way it should be.

Nobody here has defended anything other than Premium Bonds. Dodgy lotteries might exist somewhere, in fact I'd be surprised if they don't.

Prize results are out.
I got 2 x £25. Not much compensation for huge loss of dividends.

Bad luck, PD. I didn't know you were such a linguist. I hope other investments are doing better.

Mmm. It's beginning to look as though the govt. has had a dip in the prize fund kitty.

Like Bouleversee I got 2 x £25 this month, with similar feelings about missing dividends.

I'm not but know my way around the internet.

No complaints on that front overall, thanks, and you'll know why but not for this board.

Re: Premium Bonds
3 x £25 for me & 1 x £25 for the wife = £700 year to date (8 months) on £100K =1.05%pa
I still think we're gonna get a big win before the year is out.....which is what it's all about really !!!
Good luck.

What's a big win? Your chance of winning £1million in a year with £100K of bonds is about 1 in 35,000.

1x£25. I'm on a roll. 3x£25 last month on £23k holding. I shall probably buy more later this month as cash locked away provides virtually zilch interest.

Well most of this thread is about bond holders winning £25 prizes.
Any prize starting from £1000 will boost my annual return nicely.
It's not all about jackpots.

Fag packet calculation says if you and your wife hold £100K of bonds for 30 years, with average luck you'd expect to win an individual prize of £1000 or more once.
Good luck!

Re: Premium Bonds
I won a £1000 prize 5 or 6 years back but apparently I have exactly the same chance of picking up another one every month.
