Battlestar Galactica - All four series now on BBC iPlayer
We've been looking for something to fill a 'Stranger Things' shaped hole for some weekend-evening family watching, and having just discovered that BBC iPlayer are now hosting all four series of the Battlestar Galactica re-boot, I think we're going to give that a go for our Friday-evening wind-downs -

Has anyone watched them already?
From what I've read it was very well received on release, and as a huge fan of the original series, I'm interested to see how they've modernised the stories of that 'rag-tag fugitive fleet'...
Cheers,
Itsallaguess

Re: Battlestar Galactica - All four series now on BBC iPlayer
Yeah, the two "mini series" episodes aired on BBC2 on Saturday evening. The whole reboot was shown on one of the lesser channels a few years ago and I watched it all then but wasn't enamoured enough with it to be tempted this time. I spotted it in the EPG early on Saturday and for a moment my finger hovered over the record series button, but I decided to give it a miss this time.
I must admit I couldn't remember the original (Battlestar Ponderosa, as we used to call it ) well enough to compare, but I did find the reboot to be confusing at times, esp. in the later seasons, and the ending, well .... see what you think.
I did remember enough to spot that Starbuck is a little different this time ...

I did wonder whether to watch that, but it might confuse my view of another reality: I am watching episodes of Next Generation each evening. Oddly, it's been one of the best things watching on TV lately out of all the various repeats that have been on.
Well, and The Bridge. Saga - so reminiscent of Cammander Data.

It was shown on Sky One some time back.
There was also a prequel series under the name of Caprica which was an origins story for the Cylons.

Maybe, but that wouldn't have been where I saw it; I don't have Sky, only Freeview. Maybe it was on Pick?

Often described at the best TV sci-fi series.
I bought the whole series on "used" DVD's off ebay a longtime ago. It's hardly ever been in my possesion as legions of friends have asked to borrow them....and then had them for ages!
Hope you enjoy it.

It's freely available on The Horror Channel, 70 on Freeview and on others too. Despite the name it shows quite a lot of sci-fi. https://www.horrorchannel.co.uk/shows.php?subgenre=sci-fi
Star Trek TOS and TNG are on at 6pm & 7pm weekdays respectively and repeated at 10am & 9am the following weekday morning, which is when I record TNG, so I don't have one of the tuners occupied during the evening times.

Well that's very encouraging - I think I've heard enough to happily give the initial mini-series a look, and we'll see how we go from there.
The BBC iPlayer listings seems to have all four Series on for quite some time, so it looks like the sort of thing that will get us through the winter.
Cheers,

We enjoyed is so much in our house that's it's been muted we might watch it again. We binged watched it when it was quite new about 12 years ago but the big twists are who's a cylon so 2nd time though that reveal will have been done.

Erm, thanks for that - did I mention that I've not watched it yet?

Sorry I thought your iplayer webpage linked had already given the premise.

Battlestar Galactica
When the Cylon enemy looks just like you - who can you trust? It's humanity's last hope for survival - a desperate search for a place called Earth. The complete sci-fi epic.

Thx for that Itsallaguess. Look forward to it. However I'm binge watching something from around 2002 to 2005 called "Cutting it" on ITV player.
Hairdressing wars or Coronation Street on steroids, got the lot this has and doesn't appear to be dated, but amazed at the really great acting and it draws you in getting to know all the characters with the twists and turns of each episode. Great fun.

Re: Battlestar Galactica - All four series now on BBC iPlayer
As a result of this thread last year, I started to watch BG - albeit with a slight degree of reluctance. The final episode/scene of series 3 is up there with the final episode/scene of the Sopranos. Yes there are some dud episodes - almost as bad as that episode in Breaking Bad. Nevertheless, BG has kept me going during the winter in the fight against the cyclons whilst waiting for my successful quest for tylium - oops I meant vaxium.
