RSA resumes dividend
From their RNS:
VRD
https://www.londonstockexchange.com/new ... e/14686589
RSA will now resume ordinary dividend payments, with payment of the delayed interim dividend for this year which we have set at 8p per ordinary share (2019: 7.5p).

I really don't like it when companies "sneak" out trading updates as part of an RNS on something else. Particularly when the market is already open. It's not good form, but at least this wasn't hiding bad news.
In this case the main news is clarification on the cost of (potential) Covid insurance claims, which don't look significant. Increased costs offset elsewhere (and potentially by reinsurance).

Re: RSA Insurance Group PLC (RSA)
I can’t find a date for when they’ll pay the delayed interim of 8p.
Perhaps I’m being dim but any help appreciated.
Best wishes,
Steve

I do not think that the RNS was 'sneaking' anything out. It was a swift update of the effect of the judgement on the business interruption case recently determined and giving shareholders an update on its effect. At the same time they gave a brief update of their third quarter trading and the all important news of the payment of the cdelayed interim dividend, but obviously they did not have time to set dates for that yet. If I were a holder I would regard that as good news all round. Can't please some people it seems.
I do not hold.

It is accepted good practice that an RNS that contains potentially market moving information is released outside of the trading hours of the market where such securities are listed. Exceptions are where securities are listed in multiple locations. Hence why you see so many RNSs released at 7am, with those past 8am being non-trading updates such as Director deals, announcements about dates, price monitoring extension etc. Similarly you will see announcements released in the hour before the US markets open.
If a RNS is released in market hours that also contains market information it is appropriate to ensure the heading alludes to such.
TEN did a similar thing to RSA last week with a trading update added to the bottom of an RNS announcing the new Chief Executive. Many didn't pick up on this until others had, with the market price having moved, approaching 10%, at the market open.
I doubt I am alone in preferring the following of existing conventions.

It seems you need to refer to the RNS. I have already said it wasn't satisfactory.
At the bottom are 3 notes. These are usually points of reference that are signalled in the body of the text. Note 1 was.
Notes 2 and 3 weren't but are respectively.
2) The record date for this interim ordinary dividend will be 13 November 2020 and payment date will be 4 December 2020.
3) We also reiterate our continued intention to catch up on the 2019 final dividend payment (which was withdrawn in April) on the basis set out in our 2020 half year report.
Note 3 is perhaps (for some) at least as significant as the news on the missing 8p interim.

RSA confirms takeover approach...

https://www.investegate.co.uk/rsa-ins-g ... 42534357E/
The Board of RSA Insurance Group plc ("RSA" or "the Company") notes the recent media speculation regarding the possibility of an offer for the entire issued share capital of the Company and confirms that on 2 October 2020 it received a proposal from Intact Financial Corporation ("Intact") and Tryg A/S ("Tryg") (together, the "Consortium") regarding a possible offer for the Company ("the Proposal"). This may or may not lead to an offer being made for RSA.
The Proposal comprises 685 pence in cash per RSA share, plus payment by RSA of the announced interim dividend of 8 pence per share (the "Interim Dividend").

Quite impressed that the Offer was made over a month ago, and no leaks and a stable share price, and no obvious insider activity.

Re: RSA Insurance Group PLC (RSA)
I've just sold my RSA holdings which I bought back in the early days of HYP. It was a useful opportunity to continue with my objective of reducing individual shareholdings and increase my collectives. At present the proceeds are sitting in cash. Despite a recent nibble at MYI at 920p, my cash holding is still unusually large for me at about 9%.

Re: RSA Insurance Group PLC (RSA)
RSA closed tonight at 649p. With a takeover offer of 685p I'm wondering if the market thinks it likely to fail, hence the lower market price?
I didn't see any reference to an expected timetable for the takeover, so maybe its lack is also acting on the price?

The takeover is far from a done deal. In any case all that the RSA directors said, as far as I know was that 'they were minded to recommend the offer'. Then there are regulators and so on to get past.
