Come on Ody it's April 1st, but it's past midday, rumours that VW tried to copy Tesla's swimming pool in the boot setup should have been posted earlier.

Depends how many times Tesla are counting each sale!

Tesla double-charged some customers for new cars, leaving them desperate for refund details

Last week, after paying for brand-new Tesla electric cars, Southern California residents Tom Slattery, Christopher T. Lee and Clark Peterson told CNBC they were gobsmacked to find the company had charged them twice, taking tens of thousands of dollars from their bank accounts without authorization or warning, then giving them a frustrating runaround when they sought refunds.

- https://www.cnbc.com/2021/03/29/tesla-d ... -cars.html

One of the cases described:

...When he checked his account the next morning, on March 25, Tom Slattery, woke up to find his bank account depleted by nearly $53,000 more than he expected — the sum he agreed to pay for a long-range, all-wheel-drive, 2021 Tesla Model Y. It would be a second Tesla for his family.

Slattery says he immediately spotted the duplicate and jumped to call and text Tesla. He spent the day getting stonewalled, people either did not pick up the phone or did not have definitive answers about a refund.

Slattery eventually drove to the Tesla Burbank, California, store and service center to speak with sales and delivery staff in person.

He says, “They told me to call my bank and have my bank reverse the charge. That was not acceptable. When you debit more than $50,000 and tell a customer to solve it on their own? I kept pushing.”

Five days later, Slattery is still awaiting a refund or any commitment, in writing, that he will be refunded and by what date.

He says he will refuse to accept delivery of the new, 2021 Model Y, which didn’t show up during the previously estimated delivery window until the refund is complete.

The stress comes at a horrible time for his family — they’re searching for a new home in another state, and any trouble with funds could impact their ability to bid on a house or secure a mortgage in a timely manner and at desirable a price or rate.

Slattery is hardly alone. He said a Tesla employee at the Burbank store and service center said, in his presence, that hundreds of customers were experiencing the same issue with duplicate charges.

...Meanwhile, his bank told him it could take a minimum of 10 days and up to 45 days potentially to get a refund processed on their end. And it would be faster to handle things through Tesla.

Game over, the important results are in.

Tesla Bjorn awards the ID.4 25 banana boxes, beating the e-tron, the model S, the model x 6 seater.... in fact everything which isn't an actual van or the model X 5 seater which being a model x nobody buys anymore.

- https://insideevs.com/news/498365/volks ... -box-test/

"25? That is insanely lots of boxes ...this is really impressive [expletive deleted]." - Tesla Bjorn

Factset had pencilled in 172k deliveries for Tesla, but the reality is 180,338 produced and 184,800 delivered. An excellent beat of the Factset consensus number:

https://www.cnbc.com/2021/04/02/tesla-t ... mbers.html

During the same period 1 year ago, troubled by C19, Tesla produced 102,672 and delivered 88,400.

At the current run rate Tesla would produce 4x180,338 = 721,352 which is well short of their 1 million unit goal, suggesting that substantial production gains are expected q2 to q4.

ID.Bjorn is back with a video comparison of the turning circles of the e-UP, the ID.4 and the model 3.

Which 2 do you think have an almost indistinguishable turning circle?

Bjorn, still seems to be suffering from long Covid, at least based on this ID4 look:

https://youtu.be/IDlZYf083l4

The sealed rear drum brake looks to me to be a guarantee water ingress and internal corrosion problem waiting to happen as per every drum brake ever made.

Otherwise it lacks any beauty and curvature, a plain Jane of a BEV at best, ugly and angular at its worst.

All in all this looks to me like a model urgently needing a re-design.

Yes, but the ID4 is meant to be a shopping trolley and styled for users of such.

The Cyber is meant to re-invent the truck for the 21st century.

The case for hydrogen in this video is made by Andrew Forrest, non-executive chairman of Fortescue Metals an Australian corporation.

Forrest is a credible businessman: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Andrew_Forrest, 2nd richest Australian.

The video is 35 minutes long with the first 6 minutes all about background that has some useful scene setting stuff, Forrest talks from about 6 minutes on.

For anyone who follows this field there is nothing new here, save for the size of the commitment that Fortescue are aiming for.

The thesis is simple: Fossil fuels are unsustainable and the world needs to transition to green fuels asap. He talks of generating electricity from solar and wind and then converting water into hydrogen & oxygen and then using the hydrogen to power everything via fuel cells with out discussing if fuel cells that can do this exist in commercial forms. It may be that I have missed something and such fuel cells exist and if so please point me to some links describing them. Additionally he argues for green steel and green fertilisers.

It all makes for a compelling investment case in Fortescue metals if one can use hydrogen via fuel cells to power all surface transport. If one can't make commercial fuel cells then burning hydrogen in ICE is far less attractive than battery storage and BEV imho.

Tesla model S (2014) with 1,300,000 driven, this has required 5 replacement motors and 3 replacement batteries. The more recent batteries and motors are now lasting much longer than the original ones from 2014 (8 mins 25):

https://youtu.be/2SQ5PoV1hYY

It would have been nice to have some commentary from the owner, but as an example of what is possible it sets a target to beat and suggests that Tesla have addressed quality issues as needed to produce the current more reliable power trains.

Revised S & X models delayed:

Not clear what the issues here are, but the universal problem of cell shortage may be a factor although not mentioned by Electrek.

Munro does a quick appraisal of the ID4, no driving, just his view of colour, lines, driving, stowage etc:

imho this is way too small for the US market and has too much trying to make its controls like those of an ICE car:
