Educating
My email to (xxx) hotel restaurant:
i am intending to book a table for 3 for lunch in October (and enable my two affluent guests to experience your surroundings) and whilst browsing your website spotted a classic which with respect suggests a lack of attention to detail leading to creating the wrong impression.
On the page ‘Our drink”
"Our team are trained to help you find the perfect drink to compliment your food”
should be
Our team are trained to help you find the perfect drink to complement your food
(Compliment and complement have different meanings. Of course, if you meant that the perfect drink would say for example ‘wow, wonderful food' then I apologise and forgive myself for thinking that you meant to say the perfect drink to go with your food.)

Re: Educating
They (The Feathers?) should probably tell central HQ, since it looks like all the others in the chain use the same text on their web sites.

Good point. So if I were to refuse to pay the part of the bill that was for "complimentary" drinks, would I prevail in court if the restaurant tried to sue me for the difference?

Re: Educating
Alas, I fear that the battle against complimentary has already gone the way of accomodate, alot, alright, independant, tommorrow, loose (as in loose a fight), and of course untill. The people have spoken, worse luck, and nearly half of them have below-average spelling ability. Personally, I blame BBC3.
I was, however, amused to see the website of a nearby "academy" (I use the word loosely) which went into administration a few years ago because of 'unsatisfactory' rankings from Ofsted. Its new owners are proudly inviting prospective parents to something called an opne day. Don't give up the day job, people.

Since the "complimentary drink" is itself merely a turn of phrase, I fear you lose.
I have fond memories of a guest house on the Amalfi Coast that served me a complimentary drink after I'd eaten with them, and where I was staying the night. It was my first taste of limoncello - which of course is native to the area.

Limoncello is a sweet lemon drink that you get in every single supermarket in Italy. Like their Grappa and Prosecco, the price of a bottle varies from 4 euros up to silly prices! As a digestivo, too sweet for me, but great with ice cream.
Just avoid the cheap italian whiskies and vodka!!
