10 year old Talisker
My nearest Tesco had 10 year old Talisker (45.8%) on sale with a Clubcard at £30 today. That seems good value considering the price would otherwise be £44. I do not think it as good as most Islay whiskies but it is a decent enough drink. In fact I could recommend it but do not try to compare it with Ardbeg for instance!

I daren't mention how many of both I bought last year when both were on special offer!
Completely different whiskies in my opinion. Both should be in the drinks cab.
Not noticed Ardbeg (my fave of all at under £50) on offer this year so far, anywhere. I had occasion recently to have a dram of a whisky retailing at £120. Different ballpark and well worth the money. Totally spoiled my palette and now Ardbeg, Talisker etc all taste thin and lacking in substance or personality in comparison.
STOP PRESS: Tesco have Ardbeg on their website tonight at £37, ten quid off! Fill ya boots.

Amazon have it at the same price and you don't need to get out of your seat

£37 for Ardbeg is much better than Talisker at £30 although I do not know which Ardbeg is on offer. No time now to look!

At that price and style I would go for the Laphroaig Quarter cask

Re: 10 year old Talisker
I generally drink whisky with a boost of ginger wine plus ginger ale as a mixer.
Would the Talisker be suitable?

You are a bad man!
But at the prices these buggers are paying for it... yeah if you like pepper with your ginger
Talisker is the Shiraz of malts - just make sure you don't buy the "Storm" variety... it's not Talisker, and I'm not sure it's really whisky.
Landed a bottle of Lagavulan 8 and Bruichladdich "classic Laddie" for Xmas - but presently in Tasmania with a selection of local "Lark" expressions... some of which are pretty smoky.

Fascinating, thanks for the link.
Fascinating if only because the listing describes it as both "Blended Whisky" AND "Single Walt" in various places. They really do need to make their minds up. I'm sure the distillery would be delighted were they to notice!
