Issues loading Lemon Fool website
Just a heads up
I've had intermittent issues connecting with the site over the last week, possibly ten days. No reason given for not being able to load the website, but all other websites fine at time of issue with LF.
Thank you

Re: Issues loading Lemon Fool website
I had a problem with a couple of sites, not this one, well maybe briefly once..
One of those sites has today added a header saying that members using Firefox seem to have had a problem.... and to 'load the latest code' they should press Ctrl+Enter which I did and the problem has vanished.

Hi V8,
Thank you for the reply. I should have said in my opening post I use Microsoft Edge for browsing. I'll check I've got all the updates loaded though, as it could be as simple as that.
Cheers,

I just don't get why browsers are blamed for a problem
decent coders (not a dig at TLF) should know how to code properly
I was down for 10 mins or so one day last week (not an issue these things happen)
Firefox for me

10 mins - I've been down since I realised StMirren will probably be losing Keanu Baccus in the January window (that hit me like he hit Messi )
we all get off moments and it's great to see you take it so well
Anyways browsers get blamed because they're the bit you see - and they've got a bad habit of not being compliant with stuff they say they should be (I've got a good mate who worked on Netscape and I still like to rib him about it!!)

Yes I've had issues connecting to the site recently, seems to go offline for a few seconds at a time then comes back. No problem with any other sites, and I don't believe my browser is the problem (Chrome FWIW).

AIUI the Ctrl+Enter shortcut is "quickly complete an address" so it's not that clear how this could help...

And here, intermittently for a couple of weeks or so. Chrome on an Android tablet.

Re: Issues loading Lemon Fool website
I've been seeing similar issues over the past two or three weeks, and it felt like a rogue DNS issue when it was sporadically happening.
I'm with Plusnet for my broadband, and I've now manually changed my main Windows 10 PC network configuration to use the free Google DNS servers, and since doing so the issue has gone away on that machine, so it feels relevant that it's not occurred since changing that particular DNS configuration...
Are those others on this thread that have seen similar issues also with Plusnet by any chance?
Cheers,
Itsallaguess

Actually, having just checked, I also manually added the IP address for the Lemon Fool site into my Windows 'Hosts' file -
Source - My own PC
I suspect that's actually the fix that's made the difference for me in recent weeks.
I'm hoping it'll eventually sort itself out, as I'd prefer not to have the above manual setting in my hosts file, but for a medium-term fix it seems to have done the job...
Cheers,

No, Sky. (FTTC if relevent)

I'm not sure it's all that relevant - as I said earlier, I also manually set my Windows hosts file to look directly at the IP address for this site, instead of going through the DNS process, and it's been fine ever since, so I assume there's something sporadically dodgy going on in the wider DNS world somewhere, rather than it being provider-specific.

Re: Issues loading Lemon Fool website
I have seen this fairly regularly. VirginMedia. Chrome gives the slightly more useful error message
Also fails without a useful error message on iPad/Safari.
Clears after a minute or two. No problems with any other site.

If spelling is correct, try running windows network Diagnostics.

I have to say that in the last couple of days I haven't had a recurrence of the problem.

I removed the Lemon Fool IP address from my Windows Hosts file to check, and I've unfortunately seen the same issue a few times this morning already.
Refreshing the page a few times seems to gain browser access again, but it's still an annoying issue here.
I've just done a couple of DNS look-up tests using a good online tool, and that also looks to be showing the issue when setting the site below for a Lemon Fool DNS look-up from London -
Source - https://www.dotcom-tools.com/dns-trace-test
This still looks to be a sporadic DNS issue affecting the sites IP address...

Hmmmm, interesting. That's something mxtoolbox doesn't do!
Yes, I also continue to have the problem sporadically. From my experience with TSOHOST support I expect the issues will continue for a while. However, I notice that TLF's DNS entries have a TTL of just 10 minutes. I wonder if it'd help if stooz raised that to say 60 minutes, as there's no need to go to the flaky source DNS servers on every lookup.

If it's fairly regular for you, would you have an opportunity to change a Windows Hosts file entry to see if the issue goes away whilst that's in place?
That certainly fixed it for me whilst I used it for a bit, and it feels too coincidental for the issues to have now returned when I removed the Hosts file entry yesterday...

Itsallaguess
