Alternative Fuels Payment - success
I couldn't find a thread with this in, though Im sure there was one (or ten!). Admins feel free to merge if appropriate.
Success! We are off the gas grid so hoped to automagically receive the £200 Alternative Fuels Payment via our electricity supplier - but that didn't arrive and our supplier confirmed they hadn't received any notification that we were due it.
So much for the government's alleged database of non gas grid residences - we are a detached rural property of only half a dozen residences with the same postcode, our house being built in 1926/7 so its difficult to understand how nobody can know . hey ho.
Anyway I jumped through the hoops of the online application and received eventual notification that the £200 will be arriving in due course direct to our bank account from our local council - and its arrived today from the county council.
Huzzah!

Interesting. I too am off the gas grid and rely on domestic oil and a woodburner. I have asked my electricity supplier OVO but have so far heard nothing. Do you have details of how I can find the online application please? Incidentally my oil supplier tells me the benefit is £300 but having just paid more than £1700 for 2000 litres of oil I would be happy with anything!

well your oil supplier is totally wrong - its not £300 so I cannot imagine where they got that from. Our oil supplier was very clued up when i asked them.

I had to provide evidence of my last non-gas purchase - our oil supplier was able to do this easily (fortunately!)
I am presuming that if one is on the gas grid AND has gas supplied this £200 would have come as part of that tranche of provision. Goodness knows what happens if you ARE on the gas grid but do NOT have gas supplied eg dont use it but instead use wood, coal and oil instead!

I received our payment unprompted from bulb, just before we were transfered to Octopus

Don't be so hard on them if they are only out by £100! I have heard different figures quoted over the last year or so. It is a rather mean amount at £200 but better than a kick in the teeth as they say.

That oil was some time ago. I have yet to find the invoice but it was December or early January. It has of course come down a lot since then.

I cant recall what i did now, but I seem to recall its an online form with a "upload your proof here" button, I guess it must then require the photograph, or digital evidence (think mine was a PDF invoice from the oil company) to be uploaded. ie it has to be on your PC/phone/tablet to start with ?
Put another way - do you have your proof of last incoice as a paper incoice, or a photograph of it, or a PDF letter etc ?

This is for those of us off grid for gas and having to rely on mostly oil but also it would seem logs. Otherwise we pay the full market rate whilst those using gas get the subsidy.

Indeed. It would also presumably include such usage as LPG. I wonder if it would include such stuff as heat pumps?
