Messi to rightly lift the World Cup - the only major footballing trophy that's somehow eluded him over a simply glorious and mesmerising career.

And that act should finally put to bed the whole Messi/Ronaldo debate, during a season where Ronaldo sits at home watching, having been embarrassingly and quite rightly dumped by both club and country and shown himself to be the petulant, egotistic man-child that we all knew he was.

Let hope for a great final - it's certainly got all the makings of one...
