Remember-an excellent film on Amazon Prime

#14149

Postby redsturgeon » December 11th, 2016, 4:07 pm

Just watched Remember, starring Christopher Plummer as an elderly Auschwitz survivor with dementia helped to track down a former guard at the camp to kill him. Excellent acting from Plummer and a slow burning plot that moves towards a great climax.

9 out of 10 from me, no fast paced car chases but one Glock 9mm for those who like that sort of thing.

20 out of the 23 movies made about the holocaust have been nominated for an Oscar. So it is evidently very difficult to make a holocaust movie and not get nominated. "Remember" is one of the three that wasn't nominated which tells me that it's probably a high quality film.

Thanks to OP. I watched this last night and found it quite gripping from start to finish. :)

Brilliant film..gripping to the very end. Thx OP. Plummer's performance..wow. Reminded me of another great film with Laurence Olivier and Gregory Peck but as its nearly 1 am can't think straight.

Appreciate the titles given and have made a note to watch later .....but any recommendations for films my wife might like ? ( so I can watch my stuff on the other telly ! )

We seem to be locked into suggestions from Amazon that are either teen / American college kids or foreign language movies .

Her favourite films so far have been The Book Thief and Suite Francaise , so anything of a similar ilk to recommend ?

No , only have Amazon for films but wonder if it's worth carrying on as nearly everything that she thinks she would like to watch , comes up as "Resume" which means she's tried watching it before and got fed up !
