Interesting 15 minute video on the detection of short radio emissions from distant galaxies, some of which repeat. This has done of the flavor of gamma ray bursts about it or could be something like pulsar signals originally detected by Joselyn Bell. The Harvard group under Loeb suggest they may be power sources of large radio sales by advanced technologies:
