I hoped this question would never be asked. The only way to prove you're the genuine article here would be to post on the real TMF saying so...

Go back to TMF and read my comment on the closure thread about trolls impersonating people.

Fortunately, Lemon is currently in the situation where only people who are reading the closure thread are coming across to here, but eventually search engines will start dragging people in and that means people could potentially start messing around.

I did propose a means by which we could prevent this from happening which would have required TMF support, but ...

just 'thinking aloud' but how about a thread on TMF for 'username authentication' ?

EG we all post something along the lines of;
(1) Hi this is foolusername, I also post on lemonfool as foolusername
or
(2) Hi this is foolusername, I post on lemonfool as lemonfoolusername
or
(3) Hi this is foolusername, I also post on lemonfool under a different name which I don't wish to divulge, so anyone on there claiming to be foolusername is an imposter!
or
(4) Hi this is foolusername, I don't post on lemonfool so anyone on there claiming to be foolusername is an imposter

I have emailed stooz on TMF stating my user name on Lemon Fool.

But if everyone did this, it would be a lot of work for stooz.

The obvious thing to do while the TMF facility still exists is to direct contact a user on TMF using the reply to author facility, if you think their identity might be being hijacked. There are some fools who might be more prone to this sort of identity theft than others. Direct e-mail might also be a good way to alert some fools who haven't posted for a few while but who might get a surprise upon their return.

Hey Pyad, I see the FTSE is forming an inverted golden cross progressing to a reverse head and shoulders*. Does your technical analysis come to the same conclusion?

And we wait.

*I just made all that up btw

Ah, this new place already feels like home!
