When the facts change, intelligent folk change too.
Now that many of the Tesla addicts have cars, they have to sell to the wider public.
Yes when cars are selling faster than you can make them it makes sense to raise the price to cool demand.
Yes, Morgan Stanley did say this, but they have been consistently wrong on Tesla.

2018 model 3 running FSD 12.3.1 for (13:54):
https://youtu.be/DNz_CZ8eQzk?si=G5CpbSndZHE_yWKX
Interesting that a 6 year old.car runs the latest FSD without trouble & generally does a great driving job. If FSD can correct the few mistakes shown, it would allow a large number of existing cars to become robo taxi. If so the share price ought to respond very positively.

Regards,
I don't remember anyone ever posting that on this thread. Evidence please!
The thread has been full of dire (and incorrect) predictions of the death of premium legacy brands which seem to be doing rather well at the moment.
For example, BMW are successfully developing BEVs - at premium prices! Their investors are pleased with their performance. With ICE, PHEV and BEVs they have a range to suit all tastes.
Are Tesla reducing margins to get volume so their margins are close to or below some competitors now?

Tesla naysayers were omni present every where.
If you can’t see the terrible troubles legacy cars are in you are not paying attention.
Sure if you read the legacy promoted trade press you will get no inkling that the grim reaper is coming for a lot of legacy. If you read company reports & realise that BEV are now cheaper than ice, the doom that is breaking over legacy becomes even more evident than it was when I started to post about it.

Re: Musk endeavours
It's true that lots of people said Tesla shares were overvalued.
And perhaps they are?
They haven't really threatened the premium brands because the S and X are selling in such small numbers apart from in the USA. The model 3 and Y are in the mass market segment given that they benefit from government support in most markets and their costs to business users are often subsidised hugely by the likes of you and me.
We'll see how the first quarter results look in due course.
I now have only a very small share holding and have taken modest profits accumulated over several years. I'm guessing that in future the shares may perform much the same as other auto stocks.

If FSD works and or Optimus works I expect furious rallies in the price of Tesla stock, ten fold or more would not surprise me.
If neither work I expect legacy shares to under perform as they have little defense against a flood of lower priced & better performance cars from Tesla & the many Chinese makers.
We are now seeing Chinese cars selling in the UK, seemingly good enough to attract buyers. The general comments on the electric car endeavour board shows how the early adopters are becoming advertising folk for electric cars.
The last time an assault came in like this, in that case from Japan, US & UK makers suffered grievously with many UK brands having to be nationalized before failing & vanishing or being given to German auto makers.
If this history repeats, many brands including Toyota, VW, BMW will be badly injured. If FSD works the slaughter will be more horrendous.

It's probably going to be worthwhile paying attention to Tesla's Q1 margins when they are revealed.
The market doesn't bother reading the trade press. It's the hard financial trends which matter.

Re: Musk endeavours
I think one of the problems at Tesla is Elon is disinterested in the company. His attention is more on SpaceX and X.
I don't have a Twitter account now but when I used to follow Elon's Twitter feed, he'd be focused almost exclusively on SpaceX and improving Twitter. Apparently more recently he's taking a more pro Trump anti woke line. Anyone confirm this?
This isn't good for his EV sales as most of his customers are Democrats or left leaning.
I think he needs to reengage with Tesla or hire a CEO to run it and become hands off, and like Bezos just work on Space exploration and philanthropy.
However I'd expect more of the same. Q1 will be interesting, if sales are bad *if* and at same time claim growth in future which no one believes any more. Might lead to a price correcting again.

Everyone is reading too much in to this quarter.
Yes, it was disappointing, but no where near as bad as BYD and legacy auto is in terrible trouble as they continue to lose sales to Tesla, BYD etc.
Tesla has a rock solid balance sheet, is selling a lot of cars, is ramping the Cyber truck and the Semi and upgrading the 3 & Y and is progressing with the new smaller car and the latest FSD is mind glowingly good and Optimus is beginning to be deployed. Is any other car company remotely comparable?
If this is what one gets with Elon distracted, then distract him some more!
Meanwhile interest rates have headed back up so we can expect this will hurt the whole auto industry and it could be a difficult year but of all the players in this space Tesla is in the best position by a long long way.
